Chocolate Palmiers

chocolate palmiers

Does anybody else hate Mondays? I love Sundays. Sunday evenings watching CSI are my favourite.. But suddenly I am taken aback by how tired I am and that in 8h I will be waking up to my alarm and going to work. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my job. I just really like weekends.

These are easy, you can make them after work and I promise they will make any Monday worth it. Or even better, make them on Sunday evening and have a cheeky one after work on Monday.

Here is what you need:

1 roll puff pastry
Chocolate spread (I used about half a tub)
1 egg (for the egg wash) (optional)
sugar to sprinkle (optional)

Let the pastry out of the fridge for a good half hour and unroll on a baking sheet with the baking paper under it.

Spread a thin layer of chocolate spread on top of the pastry equally. Roll from opposite sides, the same amount so both sides are equal and it ends in the middle like the shape of a heart. Roll it in the baking paper loosely and put in the oven for about 30min so it sets and it is easier to cut afterwards.

Preheat the oven at 200 degrees /180FAN. Unroll it from the paper and spread it on the baking tray. Cut the roll in equal slices and spread on the baking tray. Wash it lightly with egg and sprinkle some sugar on top. Cook for about 20-25 min or until golden brown.

Once it is out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes and eat.

Enjoy! X
